After 18 years of service our hot water heater gave up the ghost.  It was 11 gallon, 1500 watt Force 10 unit and so the easiest thing to do would be to replace with an identical unit.  Too easy!  We opted for a 6 gallon (30L) Iso Temp Basic with the mixer valve assembly.  I think an 8 gallon unit might  fit just fine but we are pretty frugal with hot water.

The old unit was in pretty bad shape with significant clogging in the cold water inlet pipe and one of the control thermisters delaminated from the tank.  So it was time for a replacement for sure.  I opted to install 1/2 inch PEX isolation valves on the cold water in and hot water out lines.   So far we have the mixer valve adjusted wide open (coolest setting) and don’t seem to notice the 6.25 amp current draw when the new unit cycles on.  So far, so good!  Some images attached.
